“Since most problems are created by our imagination and are thus imaginary, all we need are imaginary solutions.”
Hypnosis is the science of harnessing the power of the subconscious mind to recognize and develop human self-worth. Hypnosis has been used for different purposes for different people; Hence, its usefulness has also been perceived and interpreted differently by different people. Recently, it has attracted many research scholars from around the world to understand the subtle intricacies of mind and apply it through various allied modalities to facilitate the human empowerment process.
Hypnosis is the oldest and best science of India. Hypnosis itself has been called by the name of ‘Prana Vidya’ or ‘Trikalvidya’ since ancient times. Some people also call it Mohini and Vashikaran Vidya. In English it is called hypnotism. Hypnotism is a modified form of mesmerism. Hypnotism is derived from the Greek language hypnos which means sleep. The term ‘hypnosis’ is much broader and subtler than ‘hypnotism’
Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience greater focus, concentration, and suggestion. While hypnosis is often described as a sleep-like state, it is better expressed as a state of focused attention, high clarity, and vivid imaginations. People in a hypnotic state often seem sleepy and zoned out, but in reality, they are in a state of hyper-awareness. While there are many myths and misconceptions, hypnosis is a very real process that can be used as a therapeutic tool. Hypnosis has been shown to have medical and therapeutic benefits, particularly in reducing pain and anxiety. It has also been suggested that hypnosis may reduce the symptoms of dementia.
It should definitely be understood that the hypnotist is not a magician, or a master of divine powers. Most of the human beings come under the influence of inspiration or suggestion. If a command, such as “You stand up” or “Leave the chair,” is given in a polite manner, many people follow it immediately. It has been experienced by all that if we see someone yawning, then even if we do not have the desire, we start yawning ourselves. When others laugh, they laugh or smile themselves and get sad seeing others cry.
